We lived in an old 2-story house and had had a nice snow and there were long icicles hanging from the eaves. It warmed up during the night on Christmas Eve and caused the icicles to start dripping. When the kids looked out their upstairs bedroom window on Christmas morning the icicles drips had formed what looked like reindeer hoofprints in the snow on the porch roof below the windows!Debhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13667920524954629650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6486699336486256498.post-11050129542170923382007-11-30T17:09:00.000-05:002007-11-30T17:09:00.000-05:00Hi Francie, Seems so long since I have "seen" you....Hi Francie, Seems so long since I have "seen" you. That is a wonderful give-away you are having. I would like to win it please. :))) I know a lot of people don't like fruitcake but one of my best memories is Mama's fruitcake. They were also so moist. She would make them at Thanksgiving, soak them in brandy and put in the attic until Christmas. Always chocked full of nuts and fruits. And also making the sugar icing Christmas cookies with my sisters and brothers. What a mess we made but it was so much fun. xoxo LynnAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6486699336486256498.post-53232107629413829962007-11-29T18:31:00.000-05:002007-11-29T18:31:00.000-05:00Hi Francie!I'm so happy Wynona and your hubby are ...Hi Francie!
I'm so happy Wynona and your hubby are better.

One of my fondest Christmas memories is going to my Gram's. She would have the new Sears catalog with all the Christmas toys in it waiting for me on the kitchen table. We would go through it together while we waited for the cookies to finish baking. We would sit at her kitchen table, drinking little bottles of Coca cola and nibbling cookie batter.

My other favorite memory is sitting in front of Gram's old aluminum pom Christmas tree. We would all sit in a semi circle around it and watch the colors change as the color wheel went round and round. I guess we were easily amused at that age. :)

Merry Christmas!Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16397845252074558549noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6486699336486256498.post-38899650482657276372007-11-29T14:17:00.000-05:002007-11-29T14:17:00.000-05:00I'm dreaming of a pink Christmas - your decoration...I'm dreaming of a pink Christmas - your decorations are scrumptious.
My favorite Christmas memory is of the Christmases when my nieces and grandson were little. They would barely make it through Christmas Eve dinner and be higher than kites waiting to open presents. A former boyfriend said it reminded him of an Ingmar Bergman movie where all sorts of little blonde people were running though the scenes. Little kids and Christmas - a winning combination.Vallenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09561607383264490453noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6486699336486256498.post-75212055370697440572007-11-29T11:32:00.000-05:002007-11-29T11:32:00.000-05:00So glad to see you're back to posting. She had the neatest vintage ornaments on her tree and each of us would have one gift under the tree...and there were a lot of us...cousins included. When we were there we would slip into the back staircase that the "servants" used to use way back when they HAD them and we would pretend we were in a secret world. Today I have a few ornaments from her tree as my Great Grandma has passed on and every time I unwrap them to put them on my tree I remember all those Christmases we visited her at her house.
Blessings,
RobinBittersweetPunkinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14661858934587897961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6486699336486256498.post-36235646951937696042007-11-27T21:33:00.000-05:002007-11-27T21:33:00.000-05:00Francie, your angel and feather tree are breathtak...Francie, your angel and feather tree are breathtaking.

My very favorite Christmas memories are of those earliest morning moments after Santa had brought our presents. Our parents couldn't get up and we couldn't go back to sleep... my sister and I would tip-toe down the hall, peek at the pile of presents, nose into our stockings, go back to bed, get up and peek again.... The anticipation was the best.

Such fun... and now I am going to look up a recipe for wassail, which I tink is what you described -- spiced mulled tea...

JennyOldBagNewTrickshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18169579521843787157noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6486699336486256498.post-72434399234519343732007-11-27T19:56:00.000-05:002007-11-27T19:56:00.000-05:00Oooooooooo..... We always went to Florida over Christmas vacation to visit my grandparents. The day after school left out, we left early in the morning....very early....and the most special memory is how as we traveled south from Pa the landscape would change.....the smells would change...and the temperatures would definitely change. Actually from a little girl of 3 to a young woman of 16, it was a magical experience for me.Rosie's Whimsyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13107502672999121207noreply@blogger.com
