Memorial Day
Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May.
Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service.
Let me take this opportunity to say how grateful I am to the men and women who gave their lives protecting the freedoms of Americans as well as citizens of other countries...who went where country and duty sent them...many of whom died on foreign soil.
My heart goes out to the families who have lost a loved one and to them I also say "thank you" for the sacrifices they made.
I hope that this Memorial Day we will all take time to reflect on the true meaning of this holiday...that we honor the ultimate sacrifices given and remember what has made and kept our country great.

Happy Memorial Day,

I love your Cinco de Mayo story, too. I was raised in Ridgecrest which is attached to the Naval Weapons Center at China Lake. We were always getting sailors from San Diego, and that is where a lot of them shipped out from also. A big ol' salute to your husband, and I hope the Blue Angels are flying overhead for you and yours.
May they ever protect us!
God Bless America!
