AND IF YOU LEAVE A SWEET COMMENT HERE I will draw a winner of a sweet little sumpin' sumpin' on Monday next.

Thought I would leave you with a little excerpt from "Twentieth Century Cook Book and Practical Housekeeping" on how to disinfect a Privy ... "the most effective disinfectant for urinals, privies, etc. is chloride of lime (bleaching powder). Its odor is unpleasant to many, and for common use (when contagious diseases are not present) copperas or carbolic acid answer well."

You know, I am ALWAYS so very thankful for my indoor plumbing and Lysol spray ! I can only imagine having to go outside to a privy (outhouse) never mind to USE it but then to have to clean it....ECH !

My wish for you: Indoor plumbing that is ALWAYS in working order.

I love all the funny comments in your book! It really is a riot! I will have to be on the lookout for an older book like this- would be great bathroom reading and could sit right next to the Lysol!

I've always wanted a privy...not to actually use but just for looks...maybe keep some garden tools in it or something . :)

Hi Francie!
Gosh, girl, it has been a long time since I've visited with you...I've missed you! Been enjoying reading your posts about the old book. What a hoot! I'm so glad not to have to go outside to visit the lady's room, much less sanitize it! Those proper girls at the turn of the century had some very unsavory tasks.
Take care and lots of hugs, Bebe :)

My, yes, indoor plumbing IS a good thing.

Thanks for stopping by my little blog -- I will surely try to be more regular -- I'll find something exciting to write about even if I have to make it up. How's that?
