Where We Create....No Gilding the Lily Here

You can go to websites and many blogs and see beautiful places and beautiful spaces where lovely ladies create their lovely goods. A few of my blog buddies asked me if I have a creative space and if so would I share it. OH MY ! Yes, I have a space but it is almost never neat and not nearly as beautiful as I'd like. But, it is me and you are welcome to my space where I create at home but I am warning you...my space is the frog before the princess kisses him :) It's a small room off of my kitchen and I have crammed a lot of stuff into this little space.
The first (and last) pictures are looking into the little space from my kitchen. The door on the left leads to a small porch and our garage is there to the back. There is a metal roll around with supplies etc., a small closet and then a table with bench seating where what I am working on is usually spread all over.
The big white cabinet to the left we got at Lowe's...sigh. That cabinet almost took me down! But with perseverance, a huge dose of stubborness and determination I prevailed. (But just in case I wedged it into that corner to make sure it stands up LOL)
Next to it is a kitchen cabinet on wheels that I was going to use for my kitchen island...but decided I needed it more in the back room. After the window is a set of French doors which lead out to the deck. That's where I take a lot of my product photos ummm not on the deck on that folding table. The lamp helps because it is a natural light lamp, which I use when painting too. Then I have a small roll around and two more small white cabinets.
Now you can see my table is full of stuff...the benches are full of stuff ... some people say I am full of stuff. That's okay because all of it's true. So now you know that while I would LOVE to have a fabulous, beautiful space I am just not organized enough (okay AND I have too much stuff) to keep one looking beautiful. BUT I am very happy that I do have a space at home to use when I'm not at the cottage. Maybe come September I will share photos of my workspace at the cottage, if anyone is interested.
Thanks for asking and thanks for looking and thanks for not mentioning how messy my little space is. I would love to see your space, even though I'm sure it will put mine to shame.
My wish for you: May you always have a place for your stuff.

I know I long for one of those fabulous "magazine shoot" studios but in reality when I am sewing everything is out and when I'm not sewing, I am always expecting to get right back at it! So, why put everything away?

I think your space is great and it is all yours .... filled with all your projects .... everything to inspire! :-)

Francie, my creative space looks just like yours except it's in the basement. I straighten it out but how can we create without everything spread all around us to see? I think it's perfect.

Hi Francie! I think most of our work areas are full of stuff! At least you have a space for it all. I am kind of spread out all over the place. Still working on a space of my own - some day! Have a great week!

I too would love to have a beautiful, organized space to work but alas, I do not. I have a converted garaged chocked full of furniture leaving me a tiny space in the middle to actually paint. Trust me, your space is a castle compared to mine. Thanks for sharing.

Your spot is lovely, Francie, because it's yours! None of us may ever get into magazines with our little corners of the world, but look what comes out of our chaos!! Now that gets into magazines.

Francie, Thank you for sharing your creative space. I love it! It is 100% bigger than my space and filled with far more artistic visions to come.

Francie, I love your space. It is yours and you have room to spread out and work. I have a tiny laundry room space. I have to keep it neat because it is so small! Thanks for sharing! (( )) I saw a familiar apron... ;)
Francie,
Your space is filled with creative energy. I can tell. I can just see you buzzin' around in there, or flittin' if it's one of those days. You are surrounded by things you love and have had a hand in. I think it is a lovely space, no sterile workroom for our Francie.

I'm so glad you have a private space to create. And if it's not a mess, then you aren't creating.

What a great space to create! And if you are working and creating, then it is so much easier to have it all right out and handy!!! (That is what we call it, instead of our crazy mess, which always seems to be strewn about the house!!!LOL!!)
Looking forward to photos about your cottage workspace!

blessings,

Oh, Francie< this is the swweetest, coziest little work spot ever. I am not a big fan of those fictional magazine layout spaces. They're just too too uptight. You're little spot there -- you can set a spell, sip a cuppa and think things through. Ahhh, what could be better than that?
